Monaco forward Wissam Ben Yedder has been talking about interest from Barcelona and reckons the club have tried to sign him in the last couple of transfer windows.

Ben Yedder was one of several strikers linked with a move to the Camp Nou in the January transfer window before the club eventually signed Martin Braithwaite on an emergency deal.

Yet Ben Yedder reckons he was also in Barca’s thoughts last summer:

“The Barça thing is something that could have happened much earlier. Last summer, for example. They collected information about me several times. This winter could have been done too. When Barça came, I took it as a plus.”

Ben Yedder left Sevilla for Monaco in August 2019 after a prolific season in Spain where he netted 30 goals in all competitions for the Andalusians.

The 29-year-old seems to have enjoyed himself in Ligue 1 in the current campaign, netting 18 league goals to top the goalscoring charts in France with Kylian Mbappe.
