Barcelona have been unable to secure the price they want for Samuel Umtiti thus far. Before the uncertain economic situation of Covid hit us, an Umtiti move out of Barcelona seemed pretty certain.

There have been a few clubs linked with signing Umtiti this summer. Three of the prevalent ones have been Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal, who’ve all reportedly shown interest, but haven’t made an official offer.

Being able to secure a player like Umtiti is difficult in today’s market. All that means, is Barcelona do retain some leverage despite the economic uncertainties of the transfer market this year.

Barcelona were apparently attempting to snag 50 million euros for Umtiti before the Covid crisis changed the outlook of the transfer market so drastically. We’ll have to wait and see if Barcelona are forced to settle or if they’re able to play their cards right and buy time.
