Inter’s chief executive Beppe Marotta has been happy to talk about Lautaro Martinez over the last few months and in his latest update he says the club are in contract renewal talks with the Argentine.

Barcelona’s interest in Lautaro is no secret, although president Josep Maria Bartomeu admitted in a recent interview talks with Inter have stopped for the time being.

Marotta once again reiterated how happy the striker is at the San Siro and made it clear the club are keen of him to stay.

“We are discussing contract renewals with many players, above all the younger ones who we want to work with for a long time, and that includes Lautaro.

“We’re doing it calmly, without rush, as there is a rapport of trust. He is happy to wear this jersey and at the opportune moment we will evaluate his future.”

Inter’s asking price seems to be the big problem for Barca and means they may need to offload some players this summer if they are going to be able to afford the 23-year-old.
