The season is over and it’s a quiet week which might explain why Barcelona are being linked with Athletic Bilbao left-back Yuri Berchiche.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the club are looking for a new left-back and have been offered Osasuna’s Pervis Estupiñá but prefer Berchiche.
The Catalan giants are “not convinced” about Estupiñán and while they like Berchiche his €100 million release clause is likely to put him out of reach.
It’s pretty certain that Athletic are not interested in negotiating either, meaning Barça may not be able to bring in the 30-year-old to replace the 31-year-old Jordi Alba.
News that Barça are searching for a left-back does suggest Junior Firpo is off after just one season. It’s been rumored he will be part of the Lautaro deal if Barça can raise the funds.
