Gerard Pique is reportedly in Ronald Koeman’s plans for next season but the same can not be said for Luis Suarez, Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets.
According to Cadena SER, Koeman is counting on Pique for next season and the defender will continue to be a key figure in defence for the Catalan giants.
Yet Koeman has already decided he does not need the other three. The Dutchman wants to move all three players on and plans to sit down with them all and discuss their futures.
But of course it’s not as easy as all that. None of the three players wants to go and all are under contract at the Camp Nou. Busquets until 2023, Alba until 2024, and Suarez for another season.
All of which means Koeman and Ramon Planes have their work cut out over the next few weeks, while the trio may have to get used to the bench if they do stay.
