The rumor mill got itself all excited on Saturday after Donny van de Beek was left out of the Ajax squad for their friendly against Eintracht Frankfurt.
De Telegraaf report the 23-year-old was “was unexpectedly missing” and added that, according to sources at the club, it was because of “developments” regarding his future.
The report speculates about interest from Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Manchester United and thinks that the midfielder has probably played his game for Ajax.
Van de Beek has been linked with a move to Barcelona since Ronald Koeman took charge, with Sport even reporting on Saturday that the midfielder is willing to wait for Barcelona.
However, a move to Barcelona was quickly shot down. Gerard Romero was quick to tweet he’s not a target which got Manchester United fans even more excited.
Certainly a move to Barcelona right now looks unlikely. The club still need to sell before they can buy and the only player who seems determined to go is the one they don’t want to sell.
