Samuel Umtiti’s brother and agent Yannick has been talking about the Frenchman’s future at the club amid speculation Barcelona are keen to offload the defender.

The 26-year-old has fallen so far down the pecking order at the Camp Nou that he now appears to be surplus to requirements.

Continued injury problems are the main reason for Umtiti’s current situation, and Yannick Umtiti has explained it’s possible the center-back could leave.

“Samuel doesn’t want to leave Barça this summer. However, taking into account the club’s wishes and their desire for change, it might be necessary to look at alternative options.

“The rumour with Lyon is good but unfortunately, there’s very little chance of it happening.”

Lyon have spoken about the possibility of Umtiti returning. Manager Rudi Garcia has said he’d like to have Umtiti back but doesn’t think it’s possible, while sporting director Juninho has said the World Cup winner would have to take a pay cut.
