Riqui Puig is reportedly determined to prove Ronald Koeman wrong and wants to stay and fight for a place at Barcelona.
The youngster’s future at the Camp Nou is in doubt after RAC1 reported on Saturday that Koeman had told Puig he’s not in his plans and to look for a new club.
The Dutch coach then left the midfielder out of his squad for the Joan Gamper Trophy match but did address the rumors after the match.
Koeman said he thought it would be best for Puig to go out on loan in order to play regularly because he would find minutes difficult at the Camp Nou.
According to Sport, Puig continues to have “indestructible faith” that he can succeed at Barcelona and “isn’t ready to give up now.”
The 21-year-old wants to stay, fight for a place in the first team and show Koeman exactly what he can do. He will not play for Barca B and is hoping to get chances to impress.
At the moment he’s not thinking about leaving at all, although the report warns he could look for a new team in January if he is still struggling for minutes at Barca.
