Ronald Koeman would reportedly prefer to sign Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum than try to bring Thiago back from Bayern Munich.
Both players have been rumored to be on the move this summer as they are into the final year of their current contracts.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Koeman has thought about both players but is “very clear” the Dutch star is “fundamental” to his midfield.
The report says that the new Barca boss is “totally convinced” he’d be a better option that Thiago, who has been tipped to move to Liverpool but hasn’t finalized a deal yet.
Koeman thinks that with Ivan Rakitic leaving and Arturo Vidal also set to depart, Wijnaldum is the perfect player to come in ahead of the new season.
MD aren’t the only ones talking about Wijnaldum and Thiago. Catalunya Radio have also said Barca were debating which midfielder to go for but feel Wijnaldum is the chosen one.
