Barcelona are reportedly “close” to signing Memphis Depay from Lyon for a fee of €25 million.
According to La Vanguardia, the Dutchman will seal a switch to the Camp Nou shortly unless there are any last-minute problems with the deal.
The report reckons Koeman has specifically asked for the 26-year-old Netherlands international who will become the Dutchman’s first signing as Barca boss.
Depay is into the final year of his contract at Lyon, making him an affordable option, and could arrive in the same week that Luis Suarez departs.
The report speculates that the former Manchester United man could be used in Suarez’s position next season but is also an option on the left of the Barcelona attack.
Depay scored 15 times for Lyon in 2019-20, despite missing a chunk of the season after suffering an ACL injury, and was part of the squad that made it to the semi-finals of the Champions League.
