According to Diario AS, there has been some movement in talks between Andrea Pirlo and Barcelona. Yes, you heard that correctly.
The report details that despite Pirlo’s disastrous season at Juventus, president Joan Laporta is fascinated with the Italian and believes he can be the next great Barcelona manager.
Journalist Gerard Romero has a bit of insight into why Laporta is thinking about Pirlo but it seems the president still has to convince a lot of his colleagues.
“Pirlo is a personal gamble by Joan Laporta,” he told TMW. “The Blaugrana President feels he has a gift for discovering the coaches and is thinking seriously about it.
“The management, however, claim they have better options on the table for the Barcelona dugout. Laporta reflects on Pirlo but doesn’t have the support of the sporting and technical directors.”

What evidence Laporta has that Pirlo can competently manage a professional football team is beyond me. However, this would align with most of the decisions Barcelona have made in the last few years so bring it on. Just give me a heads up in the comments when I can start pre-writing the sack Andrea Pirlo think pieces.
