According to a report from ESPN, Barcelona are keen on a potential move for Jesse Lingard. The Manchester United and England attacker is nearing the end of his contract and there are a couple of teams that are interested in his services.

Both AC Milan and Barcelona are interested in Lingard as an attacking option on a free transfer. Players who could be signed on a free are going to be hot commodities this summer as big teams still manage a post-pandemic economy.

The report reckons Lingard is “open to moving to either Spain or Italy as he plots the next step in his career” and “has already rejected a contract offer” from United because he’s worried he won’t play enough at Old Trafford to get into the England squad for the World Cup.

Lingard spent last season on loan as West Ham and was excellent. Despite that fantastic form, his time at United hasn’t spelled all that much playing time. First team minutes will no doubt play a massive role in his choice of club this summer.
