Ousmane Dembele’s future at Barcelona is making headlines once again with the Frenchman still yet to renew his contract which expires in 2022.
There’s been a lot of speculation about what the forward will do next but what we do know is that time is starting to run out and he can negotiate with other clubs from January 1.
ESPN report that Barcelona “fear another Ilaix with Dembele” and believe his agent is “courting interest from clubs in the Premier League.”
The 24-year-old is said to have “expressed a desire to stay” but negotiations with his agent Moussa Sissoko have not been straightforward.
The report signs off by saying that if an agreement can’t be found in January then Dembele “could find himself confined to the stands for the rest of the season.”
The possibility of Dembele, one of Barca’s biggest ever signings, leaving the Camp Nou for free is also said to be a “real possibility” by Sky Sport’s Matteo Moretto.
There’s been a similar story in Mundo Deportivo this week who reckon Barca “don’t trust” Dembele’s agent as they they feel he is trying to get his client a move on a free transfer so he can bag a tidy commission.
The next few weeks will be key when it comes to Dembele’s future at Barcelona, particularly with the forward expected to make his return from injury shortly.
