Gerard Pique: Vinicius had agreed Barcelona move

In case you still had questions about how Barcelona ended up losing Vinicius Jr to Real Madrid, look no further. This week Gerard Pique was on Twitch with Ibai Llanos chatting about things and was asked about the Vinicius Jr signing and how Barcelona lost out to Real Madrid.

“Vinicius was very talented. Do you know that he was about to come to Barca? No, Vinicius was offered double,” he said.

“I spoke with him personally before going to Madrid and he acknowledged with me that it was made with Barca. It was done. I don’t remember how it was. I was to receive him in the dressing room. It was already done. Madrid arrived at the last second and offered everything.”

There’s no doubt Barca’s higher-ups would probably have a nice PR-worthy version of this story. However, it is a painful reminder of Barca missing out on quite the talent.
