Haaland is Barcelona’s favorite No. 9
Today’s rumors start with news that Erling Haaland has emerged as Barcelona’s preferred choice when it comes to signing a new No. 9 this summer.
Mundo Deportivo reckon that Ronald Koeman, the presidential candidates and the technical committee have all realized the club need to invest in a new striker.
Of course actually signing Haaland will be a problem, given the club’s precarious financial possible, but the Norwegian’s name is definitely on the table.
Memphis, Aguero, Lukaku and Lautaro also in the frame?
Yet Haaland is not the only player who Barcelona are considering investing in as they seek to strengthen their attack.
MD also reckon that Sergio Aguero, Memphis Depay and Inter duo Lautaro Martinez and Romelu Lukakua are also on the radar of the Catalan giants.
Aguero and Memphis will both be free in the summer and are therefore attractive targets, while Koeman knows Lukaku well from his time at Everton and Ramon Planes is a big fan of Lautaro.
Marcelo Gallardo turned down Barcelona
Over at Marca there’s a report that River Plate boss Marcelo Gallardo turned down the chance to replace Ernesto Valverde as boss last year.
Gallardo was close to a move to Barcelona but decided in the end to stay where he was because he had already begun pre-season with his team.
Barca ended up sacking Valverde in January and replaced him with Quique Setien who lasted only seven months in the role.
PSG want to keep Bernat away from Barcelona
Meanwhile, at Sport there’s news that Paris Saint-Germain are keen to keep left-back Juan Bernat away from Barcelona and will offer the 27-year-old a new contract.
Bernat’s deal expires at the end of the season and the Catalan giants have been rumored to be interested in bringing him in on a free to compete with Jordi Alba.
PSG really don’t want that to happen though and so have opened talks with the defender over a new deal. Bernat is currently out injured and not due back until next month.
Barca to turn down Betis offer for Emerson
And finally today we end with news that Real Betis want to keep hold of Emerson and will offer Barcelona €9 million for the 22-year-old, so say Mundo Deportivo.
Emerson has become a key player for the Verdiblancos but is out of contract in the summer and due to move to the Camp Nou.
Yet Barca will turn down the offer and have plans of their own. They want Emerson to do pre-season with the club and will then decide whether he stays or is sold for a bigger sum.
