Barcelona are reportedly one of several top clubs interested in signing Rapid Vienna midfielder Yusuf Demir.
The clubs have all been scouting Demir and Rapid Vienna are expecting a ‘bidding war’ to break out at the end of the season.
Given the fact Barca are pretty well-stocked for midfielders and have huge debts it’s a little surprise to see the club’s name thrown in the mix here.
However, the report reckons Barca have “compiled an extensive report on Demir, which will be handed over to the new president Joan Laporta, who will decide what steps to take next.”
ESPN reckon Demir is expected to cost anywhere between €5 million and €15m and think he would be yet another “smart addition” to the club in the same way that Pedri and Ronald Araujo have been.
Barca may not be able to compete with the other clubs financially, but the report signs off by saying they may have the upper hand because of Demir’s “long-standing admiration” for Messi and desire to play at the Camp Nou.
