Barcelona will reportedly finalize the signing of Eric Garcia from Manchester City “in the coming days” following Joan Laporta’s arrival as president.
The center-back has long been linked with a return to the Camp Nou after his Manchester City contract expires and is fully expected to be part of the squad next season.
Catalunya Radio report that Laporta will finalize the defender’s contract shortly which should make Garcia the club’s first signing of 2021.
It was reported back in December that Garcia had agreed personal terms with Barca on a five-year contract after deciding he wanted to head home after four years with Manchester City.
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has already made it clear that Garcia is leaving. He said recently: “He’s going to play in Barcelona and that is not an average player - he is a top player. He was not selected in the last two games and it broke my heart.”
It’s been a frustrating campaign for Garcia at City. He’s only made eight starts all season in all competitions but will be hoping he can force his way into the Barca team in 2021-22.
