Barcelona to offload Neto and turn to youth?

Inaki Pena and Arnau Tenas could get a chance

Neto is reportedly set to leave Barcelona this summer in search of regular football after two seasons with the Catalan giants.

Coach Ronald Koeman confirmed in January that the Brazilian had asked to leave but had seen his request turned down “because he is an important goalkeeper.”

Neto has only gone on to feature once so far in 2021, in the Copa del Rey win over Rayo Vallecano, and wants to leave to become a starter elsewhere, according to Catalunya Radio.

If he does leave then Barcelona will not look for a replacement but will instead look to promote either Inaki Pena or Arnau Tenas.

Both young goalkeepers are pretty highly-rated and now look to have the chance to be in the first team next season and play back-up to Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

Barca also don’t want to invest in a new goalkeeper because “all financial efforts” will go towards trying to bring in a new No. 9 with Erling Haaland the preferred choice
