The forward’s agent, Mino Raiola, and father, Alfie Haaland, were in Spain on Thursday to speak with both La Liga clubs.
Catalunya Radio report Raiola told president Joan Laporta that the Dortmund goal machine only wants to play for Barca or Madrid.
Laporta told the pair that Barca really want the 20-year-old but would prefer to sign him next year because of the club’s current financial difficulties.
Haaland is believed to be available for just €75 million in 2022 because of a clause in his current contract with the Bundesliga side.
Laporta also offered to make Haaland the club’s second-highest paid player if he made the move to the Camp Nou behind only captain Lionel Messi. If the Argentine ends up leaving when his contract expires then Haaland would lead the new project at Barca.
Barca are aware they can’t compete financially with Real Madrid but feel they have a chance because Los Blancos are keen on Kylian Mbappe. Meanwhile, Raiola and Haaland senior are expected to meet with Premier League clubs in the coming days.
