Barcelona confirmed on Friday that Oscar Mingueza has penned a contract extension at the Camp Nou that runs until 30 June 2023. The deal includes a buyout clause set at €100 million.

The new deal is a deserved reward for Mingueza who has broken into the first team this season and gone on to make 35 appearances with 19 of those as a starter.

Mingueza has also lifted his first senior title with the Catalan giants, helping Ronald Koeman’s men win the Copa del Rey against Athletic earlier this month.

The 21-year-old has played at right-back and in the heart of the defense and seems to have cemented his place in the starting XI since Koeman starting using three center-backs.

Mingueza has also contributed two goals and three assists in 2020-21. The youngster’s first Barca goal came in the 4-1 win over Huesca and he was also on target in El Clasico against Real Madrid.

Happy new contract Oscar Mingueza!
