Well, well, well. According to a report from Eurosport, our old pals at Real Madrid may be looking into Erling Haaland purely to drive his price up. The Borussia Dortmund star is apparently only interested in moving to either Barcelona or Real Madrid. In lieu of that, Real may be in a position to hurt their rivals if they aren’t all that interested in Haaland himself.

The report lays out that even if Real wanted Haaland for a football fit, his agent’s high commission demands are making it less likely they’ll be able to get him on the team. That leaves them only being interested in Haaland to hurt Barca.

Real have history with Mino Raiola. The super-agent also represented Paul Pogba and Gianluigi Donnarumma in negotiations with Madrid, and those didn’t go so well.

If this report is true and Madrid have no intention of signing Haaland and dealing with Raiola, then hopefully Haaland’s group and Barca can come to a reasonable agreement. Although with Raiola at the wheel of the negotiations, that seems unlikely in the short term.
