Barcelona legend Xavi Hernandez has renewed his contract as coach of Qatari side Al Sadd until 2023.

The club confirmed the former midfielder has penned a two-year extension on Wednesday.

Xavi has won a host of titles since taking over and guided his team to an unbeaten season in the Qatar Stars League in 2020-21.

Al Sadd finished 13 points clear with 19 wins and three draws in their 22 games. They also notched 77 goals along the way and conceded only 14.

It’s no surprise to see Xavi continue at Al Sadd even though there are regular rumors he will return as Barcelona boss at some point.

Those rumors have reemerged recently with Ronald Koeman under pressure, and there are reports that Xavi has a ‘Barca clause’ in his new contract that will allow him to leave for free if his former club come in for him.
