Sergi Roberto has endured a tough season at Barcelona and it could be his last if a new report stating the Catalans want to sell the 29-year-old this summer proves correct.

Diario Sport report that Roberto is not in president Joan Laporta’s plans for 2021-22 and the club will look to sell this summer rather than offer a contract renewal.

Roberto’s deal is up at the end of next season so Barca need to cash in soon to avoid losing him for free when his contract expires.

The 29-year-old’s season has been disrupted by injury, he also tested positive for Covid-19 in December, and means he has only made nine La Liga starts.

Roberto’s departure could mean that Barca will look to bring in Emerson from Real Betis to compete with Sergino Dest for the slot on the right side of the defense.

There have been a lot of conflicting rumors flying about regarding Barca’s plans for Emerson, but the latest updates have suggested he will do pre-season with the Catalans.
