Barcelona president Joan Laporta is expected to make plenty of changes this summer, including offloading a host of players to raise funds and trim the wage bill.

Lots of names have been rumored to be departing and center-back Samuel Umtiti has been a regular when it comes to updates on potential departures.

However, it seems the Frenchman may well take some convincing to leave the Camp Nou before the start of next season, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The defender apparently “feels that he has recovered his best form,” still “believes he has a place in the squad” and is confident he’s put his injury problems behind him. The 27-year-old’s current deal runs until 2023.

Umtiti only made 13 La Liga outings this season, and just six as a starter, and certainly didn’t appear to have convinced Ronald Koeman he’s back to his best.

It’s been reported that Barca will meet with players and agents this week to discuss their futures at the club. It’s thought that some will be told they are not in the club’s future plans and need to look for an exit.
