There have been many names “attached” to the Barcelona coaching search thus far. By attached, I mean the internet has speculated about one of the biggest clubs in the world being interested in some of the biggest names in coaching.

We’ve gone through Hansi Flick, Jurgen Klopp, and Xavi Hernandez so far who have all been rumored to be of interest to Barcelona. In the case of Flick and Klopp, they were never interested in Barcelona. The Xavi case is more unclear and frankly I’ve learned to stop attempting to read that situation. Apparently, Laporta has now ruled out Xavi too because he’s thinks it’s not the right time for the legend to return.

The one man that Laporta is really keen on is our old pal Pep Guardiola. The Manchester City coach has a chance to finally win the Champions League with City on Saturday and Laporta plans to talk to him after the match. The win may be enough to set him free from the Citizens and feel comfortable returning to a safe job like Barca. SARCASM.

There are a few other names being thrown about too. Joachim Low, Roberto Martinez, Marcelo Gallardo, Thierry Henry, and Garcia Pimienta are being mentioned now as the search widens.

Pep’s previously said he won’t manage Barca again so Laporta sure has his work cut out trying to convince the City boss to come home. The president is also set to speak at a press conference tomorrow morning which should be pretty interesting given the managerial situation.
