Ronald Koeman has been looking ahead to next season with Barcelona and is confident he will have a much stronger squad to work with in 2021-22.
The Catalans have already brought in Eric Garcia, Sergio Aguero, and Emerson Royal and are expected to make Memphis Depay their next new signing.
President Joan Laporta has already confirmed Koeman will take charge for a second season and the Dutchman is looking forward to the challenge.
“Yes, the prospects are good,” he said. “I know that the club is working hard to build a competitive team, better than last year. The squad will be stronger, I am convinced.”
Keeping hold of Lionel Messi will also be crucial for Barcelona, and Koeman is optimistic a contract extension for the captain can be announced soon.
“We have always said that Messi has to finish at Barça, so hopefully they can close his continuity soon,” he added. “I think it can be done. It will be great news for everyone.”
