Barca activated a €9 million clause in his contract to make the transfer permanent and he becomes the club’s third signing this week after Sergio Aguero and Eric Garcia.
It’s thought that Emerson’s arrival will see him compete with Sergino Dest for the right-back slot with Sergi Roberto rumored to be up for sale.
Emerson is currently with the Brazil squad for World Cup qualifiers against Ecuador and Paraguay. The defender was called up after Dani Alves pulled out through injury.
The 22-year-old could also feature for the Selecao in the upcoming Copa America which is now set to take place in Brazil after being moved from Argentina.
Welcome to Barcelona!
