Memphis Depay says he’s “super excited” to join Barcelona after the club confirmed on Saturday a two-year deal has been agreed with the Dutchman.
The Netherlands international has taken to social media to offer his first thoughts on becoming Barcelona’s latest signing.
Here’s what he had to say:
Depay will sign a contract until until the end of the 2022/23 season once his deal with French side Lyon expires. The Dutchman reportedly has a €500 million buyout clause in his contract at the Camp Nou.
The forward is Barca’s fourth signing of the summer and will hopefully thrive under Ronald Koeman at Barca. Depay played 18 times under Koeman with Netherlands national team and scored 11 goals and contributed 11 assists.
Depay could feature again for the Netherlands on Monday at Euro 2020. The Oranje play a final group game against North Macedonia but are already assured of a place in the knockout round after wins over Austria and Ukraine.
