Barcelona are reportedly ready to offer teenage midfielder Ilaix Moriba a new contract in a bid to secure the youngster’s future at the Camp Nou.

There were conflicting reports flying about regarding Moriba this week. One rumor claimed Moriba’s wage demands meant an extension would be “complicated,” while another suggested he hadn’t even been offered a new deal yet.

The latest update comes from Marca who reckon Barcelona “are desperate” to keep hold of Moriba and want his future all sorted out.

A three or four-year contract is reportedly set to be offered when the two parties meet “in the coming week” to talk about the future.

The report adds that Barcelona know other clubs are keen on Moriba and could probably offer higher wages but the Catalans also know their inability to bring in new expensive signings means the youngster may play more.

Moriba already seems a favorite of Ronald Koeman and appears to have jumped above Miralem Pjanic and Riqui Puig in the pecking order, making 15 appearances in all competitions in 2020-21.
