There’s talk of Barcelona interest in Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte on Sunday with the new Spain international on the front page of Sport.

The headline is ‘Objective Laporte’ with a report that Barca could go for the 27-year-old to try and help solve the club’s defensive issues.

The story goes that Barcelona and Manchester City have such a good relationship that both clubs are “exploring joint opportunites” this summer.

Barca want Laporte and the center-back could be allowed to leave after a season where he’s fallen out of favor. Ruben Dias and John Stones have become the preferred defensive duo for the Premier League champions.

The problem, of course, will be the price but Barca have a plan named Sergi Roberto. The 29-year-old has been linked with Man City already and could be used in the deal.

It all seems a little hopeful right now from Sport and you get the feeling lots of other clubs will also be looking at Laporte’s situation. The defender will be in the shop window too over the new few weeks and hoping to play a key role for Spain at the Euros.
