Barcelona has started work on renewing the contract of 18-year old Ilaix Moriba, whose current deal is due to expire in 2022. The club has made it clear that their intention is to renew his contract. Moriba is considered to be a very ‘highly rated prospect’ at the club and ‘one for the future’.

As per multiple reliable reports coming in from Spain, a meeting has been scheduled between Ilaix Moriba and Barcelona for Tuesday to set the basis of a renewed deal. The Catalan club is interested in renewing his current deal for particularly 3-4 more years. According to those close to the club, reports suggest there’s a lot of optimism in regards to the renewal of Ilaix Moriba.

As far as the player is concerned, he has expressed on multiple occasions that he wants to succeed only in Barcelona and will be ready to talk about a new deal - despite receiving interest from clubs in England.

A few days ago, there were reports in the Spanish press suggesting that Moriba’s renewal could be under a big question mark due to his high demands. However, people close to him were surprised after hearing the news and reportedly said “we haven’t even sat down to negotiate yet”.

Ilaix Moriba has been at Barcelona since 2010 and has truly made everyone believe that he can turn out to be a really special player if his development continues to head along the right track. Since all parties are eager to extend Moriba’s contract, it would be a major surprise if things don’t work out as planned.
