Alena spent time on loan at Getafe last season and now heads back to Madrid ahead of the new 2021-22 La Liga campaign.
Here’s Barcelona’s official statement:
“FC Barcelona and Getafe CF have reached an agreement for the transfer of Carles Aleñá. Barça reserve the right to 50% of any future sale of the player, a buy back option plus first right of refusal on any offer.
“FC Barcelona would like to thank Carles Aleñá for his commitment and dedication and wishes him all the best for the future.”
The midfielder has signed on for five seasons with reports suggesting Getafe have paid €5 million up front for the 23-year-old.
Alena’s been at Barcelona since he was seven and made his first team debut in the Copa del Rey in the 2016-17 season. He went on to make 43 appearances for Barca but now heads off for a fresh challenge at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez.
