Just a little over two months after being announced as a new Barcelona player, Brazilian full-back Emerson Royal is reportedly already on his way out as the Catalan club is close to selling the 22-year-old to Tottenham Hotspur on a €30 million deal, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
Tottenham and Barcelona are now close to reach an agreement for Emerson, as per @gbsans. Fee will be around €30m but negotiations are not completed yet ⚪️ #THFC #FCB— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) August 30, 2021
Serge Aurier won’t be involved in the deal. Personal terms still to be agreed. NO negotiations for Moriba-Spurs.
Emerson was signed permanently from Real Betis in the summer but was always rumored to be on his way out of the club if the right deal came along, and now it seems like Barça are getting a good amount of money for a player who only made one start for Barça in Sunday’s La Liga win over Getafe.
Romano says Spurs right-back Serge Aurier will not be coming to Barça as part of the deal, which means Óscar Mingueza will be Sergiño Dest’s backup with Sergi Roberto always available to play there if necessary.
If they do sell Emerson and the rumors of a €20 million Ilaix Moriba deal with RB Leipzig come true, Barça will make €50 million in sales at the end of the transfer window which will be of huge help to the club’s finances.
