Barcelona and Atlético Madrid are discussing a potential Deadline Day swap deal that would involve Antoine Griezmann and João Félix, according to ESPN. The Frenchman has been a target of Atlético since early this summer, but a proposed swap with Saúl Ñíguez fell through in July.

According to the report, Barça approached Atlético about a Félix loan on Monday but nothing came of it. Then Barça returned with a new offer that included Aleti legend Griezmann in a potential return, which was of interest for the defending La Liga champions.

Griezmann’s camp reportedly says that a return to Atleti isn’t “impossible”, but talks will need to proceed quickly to get all the pieces sorted out before the end of the deadline. Griezmann has been underwhelming to say the least to start the season, and Diego Simeone would certainly enjoy having him back in Madrid.

João Félix is a player with a lot of potential and could benefit from a change of scenery, and playing for a more attack-minded team could unlock his abilities.
