It is official: RB Leipzig have signed 18-year-old midfielder Ilaix Moriba from Barcelona on a permanent deal. Leipzig will pay a €16 million fee plus €6 million in performances bonuses, and Moriba has signed a five-year contract with the Roten Bullen. Barça will receive 10% of a future sale.

Agreement with Leipzig for the transfer of Ilaix Moriba
Moriba had a breakout season last year and made 18 appearances from the first team in all competitions, with one goal and three assists for Ronald Koeman’s side. Ilaix entered the final year of his contract this summer and his renewal became an ugly public soap opera, with the player’s agents reportedly asking for a high salary that wasn’t compatible with Barça’s financial situation.
Ilaix joins Leipzig as a replacement to midfielder Marcel Sabitzer, who’s joined his former manager Julian Nagelsmann at Bayern Munich.
