It’s official: Tottenham Hotspur have signed 22-year-old full-back Emerson Royal from Barcelona on a permanent deal. Spurs will pay a €25 million transfer fee, and Royal has signed a five-year deal with the North London club. 20% of the money will go to Emerson’s former club, Real Betis.

Agreement with Tottenham @SpursOfficial for the transfer of Emerson Royal
Barça exercised their €9 million buy option to sign Emerson permanently after a two-year spell on loan at Betis and the player made three appearances for Ronald Koeman’s side, including his first and only start against Getafe on Sunday.
With Emerson’s departure, Sergiño Dest is the undisputed starting right-back for Barça with Óscar Mingueza and Sergi Roberto as the two backup options currently in the squad. There were rumors of Tottenham’s Serge Aurier moving to Camp Nou as part of the deal, but that was never a real possibility.
Good luck, Emerson!
