Barcelona midfielder Álex Collado is set to join Championship side Sheffield United on a season-long loan deal, according to Albert Rogé of Diario SPORT. Other reports in Spain also confirm the deal.
Collado was set to leave for Belgium and join Club Brugge on loan earlier in the window, but decided against the move to try and fight for first team minutes with the departure of Lionel Messi.
Ronald Koeman still made it clear in multiple press conferences that Collado was not in his plans, and the Barça B captain accepted his fate and is going to England to get some first team experience.
There are no options on the loan deal and Collado will return to Camp Nou next season, so the door is not yet shut on his Barça career.
