Girona standout midfielder Aleix García has been a key to the Catalan club’s exceptional start to the season, and he caused a bit of a stir this week when he admitted he wants to play for Barcelona just days before traveling to the Montjuïc Olympic Stadium to face Barça in a massive La Liga clash on Sunday.
García’s words did not go down too well with his manager, but the current manager of Aleix’s potential future team is a fan. Xavi Hernández was asked about the Spanish international’s quotes and said in his pre-match press conference that he likes Aleix and thinks he’s good enough to be a Blaugrana.
Aleix? He’s a footballer that I like, he’s having a huge season. He has a lot of technical ability and the level to play here, to play for Barcelona. If he wants to play here? Who wouldn’t want to play for a big team like Barça?

It’s hard to know if there’s any real interest from Barça’s side in Aleix and Xavi is probably just being polite as he tends to be in press conferences, but one thing’s for certain: García will do everything in his power to play a great game and prove to Barça that he does indeed have the required level to wear the Blaugrana shirt.
