In case the picture didn't give it away, we're not talking about Thiago Silva here. Oh, how I wish we were talking about Thiago Silva. His athleticism, his leadership, his intensity, his reading of the game...he can make even the most incompetent of defensive partners look great, which leads us on nicely to David Luiz. Yes, you've read it right, the whole "David Luiz to FC Barcelona" thing is back, and arguably bigger than ever. No longer an assured starter under Jose Mourinho's reign of terror, the fuzzy-haired central defender/central midfielder/bench warmer is looking for a new challenge. Preferably the challenge of turning FC Barcelona's backline into something resembling a "defense".
And as his luck would have it, Barcelona remain on the look-out for a new centre-half. Carles Puyol's retirement has rushed the Blaugrana board into action, so much so that it appears we are willing to settle for just about anyone. Rumours claim that FC Barcelona have agreed a deal to bring Luiz to the Camp Nou this summer -- the source?
Agencia News.
You might remember these guys as the ones without a website, operating solely off a Twitter handle, at least as much as I can see. They were the ones who revealed Lionel Messi to be the winner of the 2013 FIFA Ballon d'Or (d'oh!), and they also revealed that Guus Hiddink would be the man in charge at the Camp Nou in 2014. There's still time for that I suppose, but let's not get caught up in those stories. Maybe they have more luck with non-Barcelona related tips. Adrian Lopez to Monaco on deadline day and Geoffrey Kondogbia to Real Madrid?
Oh...
So yeah, maybe we can chalk this one up to random rumour-mongering as well?
