Following the events of last night, which saw Alexis Sanchez finally complete his €40 million move from FC Barcelona to Arsenal FC, it was widely believed that the Blaugrana would soon complete their move for Liverpool and Uruguay star, Luis Suarez -- and sources close to Barca Blaugranes have confirmed that a deal should be announced in the next two hours, before midday in England.
Of course, given recent developments, it doesn't come as any great surprise that Luis Suarez is signing for FC Barcelona; he's a long-time admirer of the club and it has been clear for quite some time that he isn't entirely content on Merseyside. Just last season, the Uruguayan goal-machine was close to sealing a move to Alexis Sanchez' new club, Arsenal, as a cheeky £40,000,001 bid was said to have activated a clause in Suarez' contract.
However, Luis put pen to paper on a new deal, bagging himself a healthy pay rise for his troubles, and despite being banned for the start of the season after an unsavoury incident with Chelsea full-back, Branislav Ivanovic, Suarez more than earned his inflated salary, scoring over 30 goals in Liverpool's push for the Premier League title.
In spite of his efforts, Liverpool couldn't convert Suarez' world-class performances into silverware, and distraught at another trophyless season, Suarez has pushed for his dream move to Catalunya -- and now he has just hours to wait.
Having concluded this mega deal, FC Barcelona will now turn their attentions to an entirely different market, as they continue to pursue defensive reinforcements, in what many believe will be the final piece in their puzzle. Valencia utility man, Jeremy Mathieu has been heavily linked with the Blaugrana, as has Paris Saint-Germain starlet, Marquinhos. Even Mats Hummels, who will contest the 2014 FIFA World Cup final against Lionel Messi on Sunday has been tipped as a potential target.
