Spoiler: he's not going anywhere

Ah, the joys of the transfer window. With headlines in the Catalan capital being dominated by rumours of a bust-up between Lionel Messi and Luis Enrique, rumours of another kind are doing the rounds over in England and linking one of the country's biggest clubs with a surprise attempt to sign FC Barcelona goalkeeper, Marc-Andre ter Stegen. Thankfully, the source of this rumour is the Dailly Mirror, a tabloid world-renowned for publishing baseless rumours, while the club in question is only Liverpool, the same team who are currently languishing way down the top half of the English Premier League in eighth place, some seven points adrift of fourth-place and a UEFA Champions League qualification berth.

Still, let's hear them out: what's on the table in this reported offer? Well, after some less than inspiring performance from their own number one, Simon Mignolet, Brendan Rodgers and Liverpool are on the look-out for a suitable upgrade. Apparently, the club have been keeping tabs on ter Stegen for quite some time, dating back to his breakthrough at Borussia Monchengladbach and with Bild reporting that...wait...Bild are involved as well?!

Naturally, the German tabloid are also renowned for leaping to bizarre, unfounded conclusions with respect to their transfer reporting, so this shouldn't come as a shock, but Bild are claiming that ter Stegen is unsettled and looking for a way out of the Camp Nou. Let's ignore the quotes direct from MAtS where he's willing to "fight" for his place at the club, and where he is "happy to be at Barça", because Bild couldn't possibly be wrong, could they?

At least the Daily Mirror story, while completely baseless, does quote a fairly sensible price in the region of £17 million which would represent a tidy profit for FC Barcelona just months after they signed him for €12 million, this is by all means a non-starter.

Sorry guys, but Marc-Andre ter Stegen is ours -- you're going to have to look elsewhere.
